On June 24, 2013 at approximately 1:30 am, a home invasion robbery took place in the 900 block of Estes Avenue in the city of Corcoran. During the robbery the home owner was assaulted by four masked suspects. The suspects were armed with weapons including a handgun. During the home invasion the suspects took items from the home and fled in the victimÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s vehicle. The victim was later treated at the hospital for his injuries and released.
During the investigation, Corcoran Police Detectives located the stolen vehicle parked in the back yard of a residence in the 27000 block of Dairy Avenue. Detectives and patrol officers watched the vehicle for several hours before seeing two male juveniles enter the stolen vehicle and drive away. Officers pursued the vehicle for approximately two miles before it pulled over. Both juveniles were identified as local gang members and were arrested for being in possession of the stolen car, the home invasion and for participating in a street gang. They were booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center.
As the investigation continued Detectives identified Robert Martinez as a suspect in this case. Martinez was known to be a gang member on active CDC Parole and a search at his residence was conducted. During the search Officer's located stolen items which belonged to the victim and were taken from the residence during the robbery. Corcoran Detectives along with Kings County Gang Task Force and Corcoran Police Officers began looking for Martinez. Detectives obtained information that lead them to Hanford, were they located Martinez in the 1200 block of 10Th Avenue. Martinez was located in a vehicle with three other suspected gang members. After a short struggle Martinez was taken into custody. Martinez was booked into the Kings County Jail for the home invasion robbery and held without bail on a parole hold.
