On Friday, February 8, 2013, at approximately 2:00pm Corcoran Police Officer D. McAlister was on patrol in the 1700 block of Stanley Avenue. At that time, Officer McAlister observed a male subject walking down Stanley Avenue. As Officer McAlister approached the subject, he observed the subject look back in his direction and then look forward. The subject then pulled the hood to the sweatshirt he was wearing over his head in an attempt to conceal his identity. The subject was observed placing his hands inside his pocket and begin walking away at a fast pace. The subject was identified as 27 year old Christopher Aguirre from Corcoran.
As Officer McAlister followed, Aguirre began walking down an alley and was observed throwing an item over a fence into a backyard of a residence located in the 1500 block of Wigdal Avenue. As Officer McAlister went to contact Aguirre, Aguirre took off running. A short chase ensued and Aguirre was detained. When asked what he threw over the fence, Aguirre admitted to tossing two glass smoking pipes and a firearm.
A search of the backyard was conducted and two glass pipes used to ingest controlled substances along with a .38 caliber Derringer style pistol were recovered. Aguirre was placed under arrest and transported to the Corcoran Police Department.
A history check showed Aguirre was currently out of custody on supervised released for an arrest on January 8, 2013 for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger on his person.
Christopher Aguirre is currently being held in the Kings County Jail for Felon in Possession of a firearm, Felon in possession of ammunition and resisting arrest. He is also being held pending sentencing on his January 8, 2013 arrest for the concealed dirk or dagger and a 2012 Criminal Threats arrest. He is being held on a bail amount of $185,000.00.
