The City of Corcoran, in coordination with the Corcoran Unified School District, is developing a Safe Routes to School program to create more walkable and bikeable routes to school in the future.  We want your ideas to improve the walking and bicycling environment around schools in Corcoran.  Please participate in this survey and share your opinion!

As in previous years, the Corcoran Area Transit will be a Cooling Place to help Corcoran Residents beat the heat when temperatures reach 105 degrees for two (2) consecutive days. The Corcoran Area Transit Depot, located at 1099 Otis Avenue (559) 992-2177, will be open as a cooling station.  However, keep in mind that the Depot's hours of operation are as follows: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , and Closed on weekends and major holidays. (Corcoran, Calif.) The Corcoran Police Department Animal Control Officer responds to the public's complaints related to dogs, animals running at large and investigates all dog bite complaints. Dogs and animals which are caught running at large are impounded locally at the City of Corcoran kennel temporarily and then transported to the Avenal Animal Shelter for additional holding if not claimed by an owner.                                                        

The Animal Control Officer investigating animal bite complaints determines if the incident requires some type of isolation for the animal.  Animals that are unlicensed or lack their appropriate vaccinations are isolated at the Avenal Animal Shelter for 10 days or at a veterinarian's office of the animal owner's choice for five days. If the bite animal is licensed and properly vaccinated a home isolation may be possible if no other pets reside on the premises. Home isolations are for a period of 10 days and the animal control officer will check on the animal at least one time during the isolation period.  If the animal has bitten on a prior occasion, home isolations are not allowable.
